Nathan Borg (He/Him) is a Deaf, Queer actor and advocate within the Australian film, television and theatre industry. He is recognised for his roles in "Neighbours" and "BONDS," and has gained visibility for his advocacy work, including interviews on ABC, Channel 7, Channel 10, and the ListenABLE Podcast. Fluent in both English and Auslan, Nathan is also a cochlear implant user.

As a passionate advocate, Nathan works tirelessly for deaf access and disability representation in film, TV, and theatre, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. Despite facing numerous barriers within the Australian industry due to a lack of knowledge in the disability sector, Nathan is described as a tenacious individual who is committed to creating change and leaving a lasting positive impact.

LGBTQIA+ and
deaf queers representation
While Nathan is passionate about LGBTQIA+ representation as well, he feels that he isn't as much at the forefront of it as he is within the Deaf and disability communities. In the reasoning of this, he has encountered ableism, challenges and barriers in not feeling fully accepted in the gay world or in LGBTQIA+ media and events, despite having many, many rainbow friends and supporters. He hopes that in the near future that Deaf Queers can be fully embraced and included in leading queer storytelling, media engagement and major queer events.

Nathan has been profoundly deaf in both ears since he was 7 months old, as a result of viral meningitis. He received a Cochlear Implant at the age of 2 on his right ear. Growing up in a hearing family meant he initially felt isolated as a deaf person, struggling to navigate his world. However, at the age of 23, Auslan became his second language, leading to a profound shift in Nathan's personality as he embraces his authentic self in both the deaf and hearing worlds.
Even in his young 20’s, he has already made significant changes in the entertainment industry but he feels it’s still not enough and remains determined to break more barriers down.
