One of Nathan’s biggest advocacy stories happened in 2022 and 2023. Nathan had found the biggest barriers with accessibility at the theatres with Her Majesty Theatre and Marriner Group Theatres. He raised it online which became a profound of theatre lovers and artists supporting to make a change. Nathan worked closely with the theatres to test and update the hearing loops through the cochlear implants and hearing aids connecting to the actors microphones. This has been a huge success, even including Her Majesty Theatre management team becoming more involved in Deaf Awareness. This spark of success created local theatres and the Sydney Opera House teams looking into their own hearing loops to be updated.

creating change
In the Australian cinemas

creating change In the Australian cinemas

The actor is passionated about creating change in the Australian cinemas to be more accessible with open caption as it is not often used which leads the deaf community behind. One of the biggest films, “Barbie” as released and Nathan Borg found a profound of anger with the deaf community seeing that there was no open captions for the film during the opening week.

As Nathan was inspired by another deaf woman who advocated in Sydney to get open captions in the opening week, he decided to do the same in Melbourne which he successfully got 3 SOLD OUT open captions sessions during the first weekend of the “Barbie” release.
